Resources

Please note that these resources are not specifically aimed at CM homeschoolers and so may not be CM-friendly in all respects. I am just sharing resources I think will be of interest to you.

Canadian History

The Canadian Homeschooler: Canadian History Through Living Books
This is Nicola's 2006 list, with a few additions and updates from The Canadian Homeschooler. Everything I have found so far from this list has been excellent. I highly recommend that you start here when looking for Canadian living books. Many of these books are out of print now, and I recommend searching for them at BookFinder.com to find the best prices including shipping to your address.

This blog is a book and resource list by a Canadian homeschooler. It's worth checking out when you're looking for books on a specific period in Canada's history.

I like this blog for serendipitous discoveries in Canadian history and history in general. I've found children's picture books to check out at the library, interesting websites, and lots of information I didn't even know I wanted to know. Check out her list of Canadian Historical Picture Books!

Also check out the Simply Charlotte Mason bookfinder and the Ambleside Online Canada page. The forums at both of these sites can also be helpful. The "Files" section of the Charlotte Mason Canada FaceBook page has a Canadian history list as well. (And don't forget to share your favourite living books and reviews wherever you can. We need each other!)

Blogs by Canadian Charlotte Mason Homeschoolers

Anne White writes about Charlotte Mason subjects here and also as one of the bloggers at Archipelago, the blog associated with Ambleside Online.

Lindsey Gallant
Lindsey is a fellow PEI Charlotte Mason homeschooler. Her blog is not about Charlotte Mason, but I think you will love it! Check out her Poetry in the Field YouTube channel.

Maple Hill Academy
This blog hasn't been updated in a while, but you may still find some valuable Canadian information here. Click on her label "History-Canadian" to see what she has done for Canadian History. She also has a schedule for using The Story of Canada by Brown and Jeanneret.

My Peace in the Puzzle
Erin is no longer blogging here, but you may still find her Hymn Study Help here. You can find her writing about faith at Unlikely Grace.
